Here’s a curiosity from the years of my Shibuya-kei success: actress Mari Hamada’s 1997 cover of my song The Sensation of Orgasm. Newly-signed to Polystar Records, Hamada sings over my 1993 home studio recording of the song, which includes the sound of me making love with a German DJ in 1988. The maxi-single (titled It’s My Love) wasn’t a hit. The same year, Hamada embarked on an even more unlikely collaboration when she made an album with Autechre. She’s still quite well-known today in Japan as an actress.
